We met at an event in Mount Maunganui. I was working the event and Matt was partying. It was love at first sight.
I left to go back to Auckland the next day but found myself back in the Mount less than 2 weeks later and we have been joined at the hip ever since.
We were married 11 months after we got engaged at my dream location, Kauri Bay Boomrock.
Our first month of dating included a New Year’s festival together, a surprise trip to Dunedin to watch him compete in the surfing nationals, planning a six-week Europe trip together and convincing him to move to Auckland.
I always knew I wanted to wear something different at my wedding. In the end I wore pants and I can’t sum myself up any better!
I worked really closely with Debby from Wildly Madly Deeply on the floral design. I decided against a bouquet for myself and went for understated arrangements in general.
We had photos before a champagne picnic with our whole group together – one of my highlights.
In the first six months of dating we saw the absolute best and absolute worst in each other, but we did it all together and learnt to communicate really well. I think this is what has made us so strong together.
More than anything, we really wanted our wedding to feel intimate and special.
Looking back on our wedding day it was exactly what we wanted – our fairy tale dream.
Almost all our vendors were personal friends or close relations and that is typical us. We are quite private people so not having to use strangers was really special for us
Our cake was chocolate with white chocolate icing decorated in pink and purple to complement the flowers.
