Kiwi bridal gown designer launches new sustainable business venture

Renowned Kiwi bridal gown designer, Trish Peng, is taking a step towards sustainability with the launch of her sister brand, Yours Truly.

Yours Truly has just opened as a consignment store for brides-to-be to buy or sell pre-loved and sample wedding gowns from not only Peng’s own label, but from other designers too, like Rue de Seine.

The new venture is a way for Peng to provide Kiwi women with more options when it comes to choosing what to wear on their special day, and to play her part in helping reduce fashion waste by encouraging the re-use of gowns that still have life left in them yet.

With brand new and custom bridal gowns often coming with hefty price tags, pre-loved or sample items are a much more cost effective option, and a great alternative for those conscious about sustainability.

Pre-loved and sample pieces are available to view now by appointment at the Yours Truly showroom, conveniently located next door to Peng’s existing flagship store at 37 Mackelvie Street, Grey Lynn, Auckland.

Yours Truly clientele will be treated to impeccable service by the Trish Peng team and will also have access to onsite alterations, with the Trish Peng workroom cohabiting the showroom space.

Peng has also committed to donating $10 from every sale to charity, offering a selection of deserving causes that buyers can choose from including Women’s Refuge, Starship Foundation and Breast Cancer Foundation NZ.

“Wedding dresses are so rarely re-used and many women don’t often know what to do with their gowns a few years down the track, so why not create a platform that allows people to list and sell their wedding dresses like they do with other items in their wardrobe.

“With so much waste in the fashion industry, I’m excited to help reduce this and I think launching the Yours Truly platform is going to save a lot of dresses in perfectly wearable condition from ending up in landfills,” says Peng.
