Top hair stylist, trained makeup artist and owner of Exile Hair Design, Jo Plant has more than 20 years of industry experience, and she and her team offer a full hair, beauty and nail wedding package.
Jo did my entire bridal party, she did such a fabulous job and nailed exactly what I wanted – even though I only met her for the first time two days before my wedding!” says Sydney-based bride Michela Sorensen, who married Kiwi partner Sean on Waiheke Island in early 2020.
“At Exile we can provide both hair and makeup, and having Serenity Fox of Faux Nails now in-house too means we can also provide beautiful nails in whatever colour and design brides and bridal parties wish.
“We can also help with the hair prep before and after – this might include treatments, colour, a hair growing plan, advice on using the right products etc.
“And of course, as with Michela, we work with our brides remotely in the planning stages, and are very happy to travel to the wedding location.
“I opened Exile back in 2001 to provide an experience that was tailored to meet the unique and diverse needs of our clients. We love the interaction and bonds we have with our salon clients, and weddings are no different.
“It’s amazing being part of someone’s special day, we’re there to make the day go as smoothly as possible. I’ve even been caught sewing and picking flowers outside to complete the look!”
In bridal hair trends, Jo says she’s starting to see a lot more structured and complex updos, and “less of the boho bride”.
“We’re proud to offer one of the best hairdressing experiences in Auckland.
We provide a superior range of hair care and styling products, a relaxing and friendly environment and beautifully sleek salon. Our clients walk out with not only fabulous hair, but with a new lease on life.”
