Prince’s Gate Hotel

The Prince’s Gate Hotel in Rotorua offers the very best in New Zealand hospitality, comfort and architectural elegance. With a history dating back to the 1800’s, it is a truly unique place to stay.

Originally built originally in 1897 in Waihi, some 150 km’s north of Rotorua, the Prince's Gate Hotel has long and eventful history and is still today a prominent showpiece in the very heart of Rotorua.

The New Central Hotel (as it was called in the 1800's) was disassembled in 1917 and moved from Waihi to Rotorua, piece by piece. The hotel was reassembled and re-opened in 1921 and was renamed “The Prince’s Gate Hotel” (commemorative of the Golden arches currently located across the road in the Government Gardens for the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall visit in 1901) and has remained so ever since.

Today the Hotel has 51 rooms and apartments with onsite geothermal heated pools and a variety of dining rooms and function rooms. The Prince’s Gate Hotel is a historic building and offers a mix of the architectural style as it was back ion the 1800's alongside the comforts of today's era. This stunning 4.5 star hotel offers a perfect retreat from which to explore and enjoy this wonderland of adventure and indigenous activities.

For those celebrating a wedding or anniversary, a magical day deserves a magical location and the Prince’s Gate Boutique Hotel, with its classic sophistication, is the perfect place to celebrate love and romance in Rotorua.
