We married on November 10th 2018 at Black Barn Vineyards in Havelock North.

Don’t stress or try to change anything on the day – you’ve just climbed a mountain and now you need to admire the view… The day is now in the hands of the team you have chosen, who you have trusted to make it perfect!

We bought all the boys’ suits from Working Style and had them tailored to fit.
Dan had a smokey blue suit and the groomsmen had a smokey grey – both colours went well with our rustic theme.

Dan got all the boys character themed Star Wars socks as well, which brought a fun element into the mix.

My Bridesmaids wore cross-over wrap dresses by Rowan McLennan Design in burnt orange and our flowergirl had a cute ivory coloured dress – they all looked amazing!

I didn’t try any dresses on in stores – I just knew that I wanted Rowan to make my wedding dress, as she had made both of my ball gowns in high school.
I gave Rowan some photos of what I liked and she did an incredible job!

When we saw the underground cellar we knew we could turn it into a magical setting with a lots of candles, florals and lights!

Our theme was rustic, romantic and classy!

The brief our florist Toni gave us was: “to create a modern rustic celebration with florals working through from whites and rich creams, peaches to burnt orange – contrasted for a mysterious effect with the use of dark reds and interesting forms. Blooms will be offset with lush and interesting textured foliage.”
We are bright, lively people and the strong colours represented our personalities somewhat.

Christel is strong, loving, kind, caring and funny. She encourages me to by my best and pushes me out of my comfort zone – she always sees my potential, even when I’m uncertain”. Dan.

“I’ve always had a soft spot for Dan… From the moment we first met. He was the most genuine, giving and selfless person I knew. I have never felt so adored and safe with someone, until I met him. Christel.

Our wedding cake was from Pretty Little Details Co. It was a three-tiered cake – coconut, lime and raspberry, which we chose as it was a little different.

Black Barn is renowned for its food as well as the wine, and they definitely delivered on that!

Our reception entrance song was “Pour Some Sugar on Me, by Def Leppard” – we chose this because we felt like it was a good singalong song to welcome us back as husband and wife.
We had the bridal party dancing on the way in, to start the celebrations off in style.
We were absolutely blown away with the stunning atmosphere and ambience. It was like walking into a dream come true… Words can’t describe how magical it was!
