The 5-Minute Mini-Moon Guide

Wind down after your big day by taking a break to celebrate your newlywed status.

Thinking of taking a quick getaway, rather than a full-blown honeymoon following your big day? Keep these five tips handy:

1. STAY CLOSE TO HOME

Whether you hop on a plane or rev up your car for a roadie, try and ensure your final destination is, door to door, no more than five hours away from home. Remember, you only have a few days up your sleeve – keeping the journey snappy will mean you can dump your bags with enough energy to enjoy the experience from the minute you arrive.

2. MAKE IT SPECIAL

Treat yourselves to experiences you wouldn't normally spend time or money on: indulge in a couple's massage, sign up for a fishing charter, or pack a picnic to enjoy on the beach. Be sure to let your accommodation know you're freshly we, too – many will slip a celebratory bottle of champagne your way.

3. TIME IT RIGHT

You might want to allow the day after "I do" to open presents and debreid with friends and family, but remember, a mini-moon is a chance for you and your new spouse to wind down from the months of plannng, and revel in newlywed bliss. Try to depart a few days after "I do" at the most.

4. CHOOSE YOUR SPOT CAREFULLY

Thus us yoru first getaway as newlyweds, so make it memorable. Even if those purse strings are tight, consider cutting your mini-moon one night shorter so you can book the accommodation with the sunset view or outdoor spa bath.

5. SWITCH OFF

Concentrate on making the most of your uninterrupted time together. Switch off your phones and leave the laptop at home.
