Shannon & Denen

Denen and I met when we were children at a Papamoa camping ground where both of our families spent holidays. We started dating when we were older and one night after a dinner out we went to a lookout over Palmerston North where Denen got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. We were engaged for 4 months before getting married at my family home in Hamilton surrounded by over 100 friends and family.

My dress was ivory with a high back and lace bodice, the skirt was layered tulle with a train. I paired this with a long veil, silver earrings and white sandals. Denen and his groomsmen wore navy suits with white shirts and burgundy ties from Hallensteins.

Our wedding was slightly rustic while still being classy. My husband is a builder so we decided to make a lot of things ourselves which helped the day feel more personal to us. My friend Carmen Mills from Pretty Wild Floral did all of our beautiful flowers for the day including the arch. It turned out even more beautiful than I could have imagined.

A friend of ours owns a 1965 Chevy which we used as our wedding car on the day.

My friend Elyse Snell made our wedding cake. The bottom layer was chocolate and the tom layer was lemon, it looked and tasted amazing! Instead of wedding favours we chose to have a cookie and lolly bar.

The highlight of the day was getting to marry my best friend. The whole day went perfectly and I loved every single moment of it.
