Daniel and I met in 2011 at the Cloud while celebrating the Rugby World Cup. I was out with my girlfriends and Daniel had traveled up from Christchurch for a boys weekend. Daniel's younger brother Anton approached us and eventually brought Daniel over. I remember thinking that he was the most beautiful man that I'd ever seen in real life and we've been practically inseparable ever since. After five years and and two beautiful children together Daniel surprised me with a romantic weekend getaway in Auckland. In November 2016 Daniel took me back to the Cloud to the exact spot where we first med and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. We were engaged for fourteen months and married in January 2018 at Lacebark Function Centre in Kaiapoi surrounded by 95 friends and family.

Ever since I was a little girl I’ve envisioned the type of dress I would wear, so when it came time to pick out a gown, I already had a clear image of what I wanted. I wanted something extremely unique, very embellished and something that would leave my groom speechless. I had always wanted two dresses - one big poofy ball gown to walk down the aisle in and one figure hugging dress to show off my curves for the reception. I hit the jackpot when I found my Sophia Tolli Maeve gown - a body hugging sheath dress with a huge detachable overskirt, two dresses in one! I had seen a picture of it in New Zealand Weddings magazine and I had to have it. I rung every bridal store in New Zealand who carried Sophia Tolli and no one had it. But Brides by Donna Rae in Invercargill was willing to order the dress from overseas for me to try on. And once I tried it on, it was love at first sight. I wore a stunning, cathedral length veil, gorgeous diamond hoop earrings and diamond bracelets on each wrist as well as white, textured, flat converse shoes.

The groom and groomsmen all wore matching dark blue suits, brown shoes and belts, and light pink ties from Working style.

I refer to our wedding theme as 'Garden Glam', lots of diamonds, bling and sparkle in a gorgeous garden setting. All the floral arrangements and bouquets were created by Ilam florist in Christchurch. We had mainly white and light pink roses and white carnations. I wanted to create a feeling of elegance. After the bridesmaids and I finished decorating the reception room I said 'If I were a room this is what I would look like, it was a true visual representation of who we are together.

My older sister, who I was very close with passed away in June 2016 so it was incredibly important for me to honour her and make her present as the wedding. I had a beautiful little picture frame of her on my bouquet. I also had a photo of her and a place setting for her set up at the head table, which is where she would have sat has she been there physically.

Our cake was simply phenomenal! It was created by Fleur Designer Cakes in Kaiapoi. For me, the cake is nearly as important as the my wedding dress. I wanted it to really stand out and be a main centrepiece of our reception. I wanted guests to be ‘wowed’ by it. Fleur did such an incredible job and it couldn’t have been anymore perfect. It was 5 tiers tall and had a trail of stunning hand-made sugar flowers going around it. We had sticky date pudding cake, banana cake and chocolate mud cake.

The biggest highlight of the day was being able to have our three children there when I married the love of my life. When they're older they'll be able to look back on our wedding photos and see that they got to experience that with us.
