Andrew and I met ten years ago at a University house party and started dating shorlty after. In August 2015 we were in Santorini for another friends' wedding. Andrew waited until a few days after their wedding until we were alone. He casually asked if I wanted to celebrate and when I turned around and asked 'celebrate what?' he was holding the ring. We celebrated our engagement with a few more days exploring and eating and drinking our way around Athens.

In February 2017 we were married in the same Hawkes Bay church that my parents were married in and that I attended as a child. We chose to have our reception at the beautiful Crab Farm Winery surrounded by 90 friends and family from New Zealand, the UK, Canada and Australia. As a special surprise for Andrew I had a friend play the Jurassic Park theme music as I walked down the aisle. It's Andrew's favourite movie and he loved it!

Kim McMillan of Luska created our flowers. She did such an amazing job as I know nothing of flowers. I had a look on pinterest and decided that I liked the wild flower look. I sent Kim a few pictures as well as pictures of the dresses and suits and she basically worked magic

I didn't really have any idea of what type of dress I wanted and then I stumbled across Kate Halfpenny's dresses online and fell in love with all of them. Luckily Leonie Claire was having a sample sale so I went to Brighton with my bridesmaids and bought my dress on the day. My bridesmaids dresses were a beautiful flower print from ASOS. Unfortunately they didn't have all three sizes in stock so we had to check multiple times a day until they were back in stock.

The boys were in charge of finding their suits and they did an excellent job. They each wore blue suits that were a bit brighter than the norm and Andrew had a three piece suit. Their ties matched the bridesmaids' dresses beautifully.

Jacinda from The Little Details Co. created our cake. It was three tiers with a blackforest layer, a lemon and white chocolate layer and a passionfruit and coconut layer. It was by far the best cake I have ever eaten!

While we were getting our photos taken we had a three piece band called Confetti entertaining our guests. We loved how they had such a wide range of music! Later on we had Clint from Volume DJ set the tone for the evening. As part of our invites we asked guests to provide us with a song that they would like to hear so that formed the basis of his playlist. We made sure there was a mix of oldies and and modern hits.

I probably wouldn't suggest planning your wedding from the other side of the world like we did but if you do then make sure that the people you are working with are super talented, reliable and committed to making your day special. We were so lucky to find amazing professionals who took a lot of the stress out of our day.
