At last. Prince Harry has confirmed his engagement to American girlfriend, Meghan Markle.
"Prince Harry has informed Her Majesty The Queen and other close members of his family. Prince Harry has also sought and received the blessing of Ms Markle's parents," a statement released by Clarence House (Prince Charles' residence) read.
His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales and Ms. Meghan Markle are engaged to be married. The Prince of Wales made this announcement this morning: His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince Harry to Ms. Meghan Markle. The wedding will take place in Spring 2018. Further details about the wedding day will be announced in due course. His Royal Highness and Ms. Markle became engaged in London earlier this month. Prince Harry has informed Her Majesty, The Queen and other close members of his family. Prince Harry has also sought and received the blessing of Ms. Markle's parents. The couple will live in Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace.
Prince Harry, 33, and Ms Markle, 36, will wed in Spring 2018 (Autumn in NZ) and they will live in Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace.
Markle is best known for her acting role in US TV legal drama, Suits. She recently announced her departure from the show, which fueled much speculation about the fact it was only a matter of time before an announcement about a royal wedding would be made.
Markle – also known for her charity work and campaigning for gender equality – closed down her lifestyle website earlier this year and has not posted on her Instagram account since April.
She will gain an HRH title and be considered a senior royal.
Congratulations Harry and Meghan!
