Tim and I met in 2015 through a mutual friend at an indoor netball game. We hit it off straight away but circumstances didn't allow for anything more than friendship at that stage. After a year together Tim whisked me away to Fox Glacier for an adventure weekend. He had organised a helicopter flight out onto the glacier and we managed to do some ice climbing while we were out there. On our way back, with the help of two guides, we came across an ice cave where Tim popped the question. Before we had gone away Tim had asked the permission of not only my parents but also my teenage daughter.
We were engaged for just over a year and got married at the beautiful Terrace Downs Golf Resort in September 2017. Tim loves his mountaineering and climbing so the stunning backdrop of the Southern Alps was irresistible. It was extremely cold but we are snow and winter people so wouldn't have had it any other way.
I really wanted a dress that made me feel like a princess. I had a photo of one that I really liked and took it to a wonderful dressmaker, Christine Reeves who made it for me. I accessorised with a vintage style headpiece and a snowflake necklace that Tim had bought me from Michael Hill as he calls me his Snowflake.
Tim and his groomsmen wore black on black. Their shirts were purchased from Meccano but they wore their own black pants and shoes. Their glacier blue ties matched the bridesmaid's dresses.
We used the golf carts from Terrace Downs Resort to get down to our ceremony. The General Manager Koji had surprised us by decorating them with ribbon and attaching a 'Just Married' sign on the back of one.
We had a winter themed wedding. The bright blue was the colour of the ice cave where Tim proposed and we also had accents of silver and white. We added in smaller details like diamantes, snowflakes, silver spray painted bottles and little pinecones. The tables were named after mountains and the blackboards all had mountains painted on them.
Our cake was incredible. It had three tiers and featured mountains on each tier, and small pinecones. The top tier was red velvet, the middle tier was banana with caramel and the bottom tier was chocolate with raspberry.
We're best friends and soulmates and are just ecstatic that we have found each other!
