Which Wine Should I Serve at Our Wedding?

The team at Marlborough's Lawson's Dry Hills Winery take the 'which wine?' decision into their experienced hands.

Looking for wedding wine is challenging, so choosing three very different styles is perhaps the best way to ensure you have something for everyone.

Sauvignon Blanc is a crowd favourite no matter the time of year. Fresh and vibrant, packed with citrus and flavours, it’s a refreshing, uplifting wine and great with seafood.

As a contrast, a rich, flavour-packed Chardonnay can be just the thing for pairing with chicken and white meats and barbecued foods. With the toastiness from French oak together with a richer texture than Sauvignon Blanc, this wine style is a weightier option.

For a red wine, Pinot Noir is just perfect.

Flavoursome but not too heavy, this style works well for enjoyment at a lunchtime event or evening. Think cherry flavours with a dash of boysenberry, some warm spice notes and a gentle, smooth texture and you have a delightful wine that suits many food styles, especially red meats, ham, barbecued and roast dishes.

And to be honest, some guests will enjoy a Sauvignon Blanc to start with, then a Chardonnay with the entrée and a Pinot Noir with the main – sorted!
