While you're there, why not enjoy a relaxed lunch at Ascension, or taste some exquisite wines at the cellar door.
We are pretty excited for New Zealand brides to be able to experience such an event, so we put a few more questions to Bridal & Bliss Wedding Fair organiser Bridget Bahlmann of Ascension Wine Estate.
Q: Who are the handpicked suppliers we can look forward to meeting at the fair, and why have you chosen these experts?
We have chosen these suppliers based on their unique dedication and talent within the industry. They have all been recommended as reliable with special creative flair. A few that I will mention are Jo from Orewa Beach Flowers are close to both Matakana and Auckland. Jo and her team pride themselves on designing custom floral boutiques and they specialise in weddings.
Then we have a variety of talented photographers, because choosing a professional wedding photographer is essential to a truly quality service and stunning images that you will treasure forever.
We have multi-award-winning Amanda Wignell as well as Anna from Blush Photography , Gina from Evermore Photography (as seen on the Bridal & Bliss advertisement below), French photographer Marc Herbulot and Ivana & Milan Photography . This stunning showcase of photography talent will ensure that you can find a professional that suits your style and taste.
You and your wedding dress take centre stage on your wedding day, and for this we have the talented Denise at Jenny’s Bridal ; with her expert eye for detail and their in-house alterations service, she will ensure you the perfect fit as well as a dress that feels like a million dollars – but doesn't cost it! Models will be showcasing her gorgeous gowns on the day.
Cheers Wedding & Party Hire will be exhibiting at the show, who specialise in exquisite tableware. The Event Childcare Company provides onsite childcare at your wedding. Loverocks Jewellery create stunning crystal bridal headpieces.
Kirsty Clarke Makeup is also in the mix – she worked in London for a fashion photographer and now provides quality service and a look you will love.
Along with this fantastic bunch we have three outstanding celebrants to liven up your day! With careful attention to your wishes, Amanda Jayne Celebrant can help you move away from the limitations of traditional ceremonies. Nikki Dare brings her warmth and organisational skills to the table, and Valeria Antipenko Celebrant is passionate about creating a magical day for you that you will celebrate forever.
Q: Why is having local suppliers in one property the best way to plan a wedding?
Convenience, support and atmosphere. By choosing from any of our outstanding suppliers, you can be assured that the quality of your wedding day is right up there, original and unique.
When choosing Ascension as a wedding venue - both local and Auckland-based suppliers are used. The ease of setting up your special day all in one picture perfect location is a wedding-plan-dream come true!
Q: Ascension Wine Estate is a stunning location – what are the options for ceremony and reception spaces at this venue?
Ascension has a range of ceremony and reception options right at your feet. We have the gorgeous Vineyard Arbor for a stunning outdoor experience amongst the vines. Also – there’s the Belfry Function Centre, equipped with a private bar, separate bathroom, in-built sound and PA system.
Other options include our magically-lit Winery (also as a wet weather option), our Fountain Garden, Restaurant, Pergola, Courtyard overlooking the vineyard and the Courtyard lounge. You will be able to see all of these spaces and to discuss them with our Functions Manager Helen (027 960 0600) on the day!
Q: Tell us about the wine and food at Ascension… is there a set menu for wedding receptions or can couples tailor their food and wine to suit their needs?
Our wine selection is growing and growing; re-branded and with a new winemaker, we are heading from strength to strength. From a floral Flora (The Rogue – it’s like Pinot Gris) to a spicy Tannat (The Countryman), couples can have a choice of any varieties of our wine to have on their tables.
Couples can choose from either a set menu or a buffet style feast, matched with wine pairing suggestions from our French Sommelier. Special vegetarian and vegan requests are also fully covered.
Q: What is the number one query couples have when choosing a venue?
Our number one query couples have when choosing Ascension as a wedding venue is the availability. Brides often have a date in mind that they are set on and the availability of this date matters! At Ascension we have a range of pricing and options from mid-week or off peak season to the most desirable weekend dates in the peak of summer.
Q: Anything else you’d like to add about the Bridal & Bliss Wedding Fair?
If you are worried about traffic coming out on Sunday – don’t be! It’s the end of the silly season so we find that after Easter weekend the return traffic is not a problem. Make a day (or weekend) of it and check out Omaha Beach, Matakana Village, or a local restaurant after you come to the show!
