Chocolatier Nico Bonnaud of Honest Chocolat believes that chocolate is much like wine; it’s flavor can be affected by many different variables such as origin, climate, soil, and processing techniques – and that’s all before it’s put in the hands of a master crafter of chocolate!
There’s a big difference between mass-produced chocolate – the sweet stuff that we can devour subconsciously in front of the telly – and true chocolate in its most beautiful and true form. It’s the latter that makes special, personal, and appreciated gifts at any time of the year.
Delicately crafted bonbons presented in pretty packaging is a perfect way to say ‘thank you’. Whether it’s for a festive treat or custom-ordered for wedding guest favours, we’re on board with Bonnaud and heavily agree that quality chocolate made with care is all kinds of wonderful.
Here’s more morsels about chocolate from Bonnaud.
NZW: Why is chocolate the ideal gift?
NB: Because everyone loves chocolate! Our decadent chocolates add a sense of occasion with a special and personal touch; the striking colours of our bonbons are always a hit and people are pleasantly surprised when they taste as good as they look.
How do we personalise a gift of chocolate?
We thrive at being creative and love putting together bespoke gifts. It can be as simple as selecting from our range of 12 flavours of bonbons (pictured above) for a customised box of chocolates, or putting a large gift box together with a range of our products for that serious chocolate lover. We also offer customised branding and packaging, which is great for weddings and corporate gifts.
Tell us about wedding guest favour chocolates…
For weddings we have made golden star chocolate lollipops, tasting bags of chocolate almonds, and collection boxes of three bonbons. We can cater from tens to thousands of guests. We prefer a personal approach when it comes to placing orders for events, so drop us an email ([email protected]) and let us know how we can help.
What is special about Honest Chocolat’s creations?
We hand-craft each piece using one of the world’s finest chocolates which is organic, fair trade, and most importantly delicious. We showcase the quality of our chocolate by keeping things simple. We don't add dairy or lots of sugar, and we find ways to showcase the flavour of the chocolate itself. We don't use artificial ingredients, preservatives, or palm oil.
What is the best thing about working with chocolate?
I love transforming simple good quality ingredients into edible art. Chocolate has so many possibilities in its use and is great at putting smiles on people's faces.
