Join our lucky winner Marysa and her fiancé Peter on their journey to their Dream Wedding.
This was a really big week for us, and we've built up a lot of momentum, making some significant decisions. We keep having to pinching ourselves, as we're so lucky getting to work with all these amazing suppliers!
Early in the week, my mother flew to Auckland from Christchurch for a whirlwind 24 hours. Our first task was to check out the beautiful styles and colours of the Sally Eagle Bridal Designs bridesmaid dresses I'd chosen, and we then met with jeweller Grant Bagnall at Carats, who showed us some different designs to consider for Pete and my wedding bands. They're all exquisite and I’m torn between rose gold and platinum. Peter and I went back together a few days after my first visit to look at the men's selection. He's never worn rings before, so the sample bands felt strange for him! With so many lovely rings to choose from, we decided need to sleep on it for a week or so before we make our final choice.
Thursday was a wonderful day. My mum and my sister-in-law to be, Tracey, joined me at Hera Couture for my first consultation. From the minute we walked in, I was made to feel so special and designer Katie Yeung was so attentive that the experience is one I’ll never forget. Katie and I discussed my initial ideas, then she started pulling out different gowns for me to try on. I tried at least 15 absolutely gorgeous dresses, but it was the very first one that I just knew was ‘the one’. Initially I was worried I wasn’t going to be able to make a decision, but luckily I didn’t have that problem and the answer was very clear. While trying on the others, my mind kept returning to that one dress, and when I slipped back into it, the emotion was quite overwhelming and we were all very moved. I don’t want to give too much away, but I feel very elegant and beautiful in this gown.
With the vision of my bridal attire swirling in my head, Mum and I headed to Mia Piaci to look at their selection of shoes. We also popped into the Willa & Mae showroom to select a beautiful silk robe from their new collection. I don’t have anything else like it and loved the coral colour so much that I treated myself to a matching chemise.
We also made a repeat visit to the team at Frank Casey to finalise Pete and his groomsmen’s suits. I can’t wait to see them all lined up with the beautiful bridesmaid’s dresses, which are being created in Wellington as we speak. We also met with Ashley Hibbard from Southern Belle, who's working with us on theming our day aboard Hauraki Blue Cruises' ship.
Wendy Keir from Fox and the Hare has made the process of designing our invitations a breeze. This week she sent us some preliminary artwork, and we loved it, so she's now making some final tweaks. All communication with Wendy has been via email, which has made it super easy, and I’m so looking forward to seeing the finished product.
What a productive and fantastic week it’s been; everything feels like it's falling into place!
