"This week has been extremely busy. We have so many decisions to make – but I'm loving it!
We went to a wedding in Nelson over the weekend; It was really beautiful and I was secretly taking notes, of course. It really made me appreciate the effort the couple had gone to, right down to the finer details. This got me thinking about our own wedding and the way I want it to represent us.
During the week I had my dress appointment at Hera Couture with designer Katie Yeung. It was just like in the movies; my sister, best friend, Mark’s sister and [wedding planner] Emily from New Zealand Weddings all came to support me. It was really special that they all made such an effort to be there. I was allowed to try on any dress I wanted – it was amazing.
I didn’t know where to start, I just knew I liked lace and tulle. The ladies were really helpful and kept finding dresses as I tried more on to suit what I liked or didn't like as we went.
The first dress I tried was the Lavant (pictured below), which I had seen on the Hera Couture website. I love the flower organza and this dress truly made me feel like a princess. All the dresses were really beautiful but when I tried on the fifth dress, I knew it was the one. It was perfect and I just had this feeling: this is it, this my dream dress.
When I arrived home today the invitations from BeechTree Creative were at the door waiting for me - they are perfect! This week I’ll be getting them ready to send out. I need to buy some magnetic tape so they can go on everyone's fridge and metallic sharpies to write out addresses.
Grant from Carats also rung and said we can pick up our rings this weekend, which works perfectly as Mark also has his suit fitting at Frank Casey on Saturday morning. Two exciting things to do on Saturday.
I can not wait to see Mark in a suit. I’m tagging along to the fitting – partly because I’m a control freak and want to make sure what he chooses will be right, but mainly because unfortunately all his groomsmen live elsewhere, either Christchurch to Canada. Mark is going to pick what they will wear and then get the measurements from his groomsmen. They will hopefully be able to try on their suits the weekend before the wedding, to make sure they fit!
This week I’m going to head to the shops to get the table decorations. I need to find some tea light candle holders that suit our silver theme....
