Rhuari and I met in a Hamiton pub four years ago. Rhuari proposed on a trip to Port Douglas in June 2016. He proposed with a necklace rather than a ring as he knew I wanted to choose my own.
Five months after our engagement we were married on the 26th of November at Gothenburg Restaurant under a lovely big tree with the Waikato river flowing in the background. We were surrounded by 100 friends and family.
We both grew up in Hamilton so having the Waikato River in the background and being surrounded by big trees was lovely, it felt very much like Hamilton. Gothenburg has amazing food and we were the first to get married there so it felt even more special.
Traditional wedding gowns were just not me, when I walked into Rue De Seine I knew this was the type of gown I wanted. They are just beautiful and unique. It had a bohemian feel with beautiful lace and silk lining plus white beading down the front. My shoes were from Mi Piaci. They were really comfortable and suited my gown well. The only other accessory was my hair accessory which my mother wore when my parents got married.
The suits were hired from Munns. Rhuari picked them and did a great job!
Chloe (Rhuari’s sister) from Le Fleur created the beautiful flowers, they had a king protea, sweet peas and peonies plus roses from our garden. Our tables had grennery along the middle.
Rhuari’s Dad Darryl’s band played at the reception. His band was fantastic and it was so fun to have some guests surprise us with their unknown singing talent!
Just have fun and try not to worry about the little things. At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is you a. get married and b. have a good time.
