We exchanged vows in the garden of my parents’ rural Kumeu home. Wooden signs directed guests to the ceremony and drinks tent, rows of olive trees marked our aisle and guests sat on hay bales covered with white linen. We set up a wishing tree where guests could hang messages of love and wisdom – we will enjoy reading the notes for years to come.

With the key words vintage, bohemian and flowing in mind, I asked my six bridesmaids to choose their own dresses. Tying in with the down-to-earth style of our wedding, they all went barefoot and wore Leaf and Honey’s floral crowns. My five flower girls wore matching ivory dresses.

I loved the subtle pink colour, fitted bodice and floaty skirt of my Monique Lhuillier dress. The fabric, covered in a design of small leaves, was perfect for a garden wedding. I bought a vintage veil and, on the day of the wedding, my hair stylist shaped it to resemble Kate Moss’s veil. Soft curls and natural-looking makeup reflected the relaxed vibe of our day.

The Tasting Shed’s farmhouse feel, indoor-outdoor flow, long wooden tables and gorgeous gold cutlery made it the perfect venue for our 100-guest reception. We extended the eating area with a Moroccan tent and decorated tables with vintage lace tablecloths and doilies in neutral shades. Mismatched glass vases, which Leaf and Honey filled with succulents and roses, finished off each beautiful table.
