Inspiration alert! Want to make your big day extra memorable? Glean ideas from these inventive brides!

Juliet, Waikanae
‘We didn’t want the usual slow dance to a love song at the reception, we wanted something fun that our guests would remember so we decided to surprise them by creating the dance scene from Saturday Night Fever to the song More Than A Woman. We bought the DVD and practiced every night for about six weeks prior and didn’t tell anyone. Our guests absolutely loved it and still talk about it to this day.’

Kara, Whangateau
'Our wedding was completely personalised to fit our love for rugby. Our invites were a rugby programme that detailed our bridal team of 15 match officials, we sat under giant goal posts made of small white balloons and each table was named after a rugby club Steve has played for. We even had am empty table called the Sin Bin table for any guests who played up!'

Karmin, Kaikoura
‘Most of our guests flew over from Australia so two days before the wedding we all went white water rafting.'

Lisa, Taupo
‘Our wedding began with the children of our families taking part in a candle ceremony to remember members who are no longer with us.’

Vanessa, Piha
‘We wanted our wedding favours to be quirky and fun so we used white noddle boxes with pink and silver hear-shaped chocolates inside and my mum hand-painted a silver V & S with the date on each box.’
