Ahead of this weekend’s Beauty Seminar, we asked our experts to share their top five tips for nailing your bridal look. Here, Kristelle Thomsen from Clinique talks skin care, because, as she says, ‘your makeup only looks as good as the skin underneath’.
1. When it comes to pre-wedding skin care, where does a bride start?
She should seek the advice of a skin care expert and be sure she’s aware of her skin type. This will help her establish her basic skin care routine, which she should start as far out from the big day as possible in order to achieve great glowing results.
3. What are your top tips for easy bridal skin care?
Effective cleansing, exfoliating, moisturising morning and night. Daily skin care pays off and over time, skin will look clearer, smoother and more radiant. Daily sun protection is a must too!
3. What is the biggest mistake brides make in terms of skin care?
Introducing too many new products to the skin at once is a recipe for disaster. If you’ve never exfoliated your skin, don’t all of a sudden start using a scrub every day or you’ll scare the living daylights out of it! Think simple, effective and gradual introduction of new products. This will ensure you don’t end up with breakouts and excess oil due to over-stimulation.
4. What does a bride do if a blemish pops up just before the big day?
Don’t panic. Clinique has Anti-Blemish Solutions Spot Treatment Gel that reduces inflammation and speeds up healing. Also, invest in a good concealer which will hide any evidence.
5. On the day of the wedding, what should you do for your skin?
Use your normal routine! Cleanse, moisturise, apply a little more Moisture Surge if required. Lastly, remember to smile and enjoy every moment – it’s a precious day!
